Method 6 Sigma offers technical and tools to improve the capability of the processes while reducing the defects. Directed production process in the beginning, the method seeks the absolute regularity. Variability is indeed source of dissatisfaction of the customer. The customer awaits a product with a certain quality, according to a precise standard. Not to be able to guarantee the totality of the production by adhering to this standard is particularly expensive for the firm.
In fact the variability of final quality is primarily the consequence of the instability of the components entering the manufacture of the product, the inaccuracy of the procedures of work and overall of the complexity of the processes. 6 sigma forces to remain within the limits by implementing the principle:

In other words, in short:

The objective is to center the curve on the target.

In the long term, 6 Sigma does not authorize more than 3.4 defects per million for each service or product.
