For memory, Joseph is inter alia the precursor of the conceptualization and the dissemination of the principle of (law of the 80/20 or how to separate the “vital ” from the “”). He is also the author of several reference works like Control .
Both current of , Joseph A. De , William W. Barnard, published an extremely interesting book in connection with 6 SIGMA and of the continuity of the process of continuous improvement:
“ S six sigma - : business performance ” (see below).
Prefaced by Joseph , this book written after a series of seminars in China seeks some share to warn the firms of the America old woman and even older Europe which only improve well too slowly. Chapter 12: In Exchange: Roadmap for the change
The whole of the book is of course of a great interest if not I would not devote a whole chapter of this file to him SIX SIGMA.
Chapter 12, has Change which one could translate by “Roadmap for the change”, conclusive this book deserves however that one is delayed there a little. Especially if one considers a or .
This chapter as its bond indicates it proposes an original step with the manner of a methodological guide, a roadmap to some extent, to lead the change and to make sure that the turn is well taken and the development in right track. The authors forward it as follows:
“The roadmap is a systemic approximation (nonprescriptive) to go from here to there”.
As had mentioned we in the preceding chapter, the threat of the flashback is truly the sword of Damocles of the step of continuous progress. It is a question of making sure that the change is durable and to found a crop based on the continuous improvement of the performance to guarantee the alignment of the long-term goals with the development in hand.
The roadmap of proposes in 5 independent phases a particularly practical guide to lead the change.
- Phase 1: To decide
- Phase 2: To prepare
- Phase 3: To launch
- Phase 4: To deploy
- Phase 5: To maintain
Some of the topics and some recommendations developed during this chapter.
- To collect the freshest possible information,
- To identify the cut-off points and the sources of potential problems
- To prepare the change, to identify the most relevant projects of improvement to launching
- To launch the pilot projects
- To study the pilot project's performances
- To launch the projects
- To deploy with large scales
- To check alignment 6 Sigma and the strategy
- To make sure that the processes are always control and remain in phase output question with the preliminary requirements.
In conclusion: Overall training leading naturally to a new strategic direction increasingly more relevant
The loop is looped.
To note: This book is not (still?) translated into French. There also exists in Spanish edition under the bond: “ of Sigma” also published at Mac
